Autumn Leaf Dough Tree
2 and up: 30 Minutes: FallAutumn Leaf Dough Tree
An Activity for Preschoolers:
Children can practice sorting, counting, and various other math concepts with this activity.
Before You Begin:
Make dough trees on a clean, flat surface. Place foam leaves next to each tree.
Activity Goals:
Practice fine motor skills
Practice sorting
Develop eye-hand coordination
Furthermore:
Begin a conversation about why leaves change in the fall. Perhaps talk about how the leaves change as well. You could also consider learning about the concept of “more or less” by placing more leaves on one tree than the others and asking the children which tree has more leaves.
Let's Get Started
STEP 1
Have children gently place leaves on each tree. Children can sort the leaves by color onto the corresponding tree. Or, they can see how many leaves they can fit on one tree.
