An Activity for Preschoolers:
Everyone's a winner with these dazzling medals!
Before You Begin:
Discuss with the children how the Olympics work and which athletes get 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. You'll need the following materials: wood photo ornaments, glue, glitter, paint, brushes, construction paper and glitter glue.
Activity Goals:
To create a wearable craft to role-play Olympic winners in 1st, 2nd and 3rd places!
Furthermore:
Let children choose a medal to create or create all three. Optionally, create a layer of gold, silver and bronze to represent all three medals on one.
Let's Get Started
STEP 1
Remove the backing and plastic cover from the ornament.
STEP 2
Brush the ornament with glue and cover it with gold, silver or bronze glitter; or, paint the medal with metallic activity paint.paint
STEP 3
Allow the medal to dry.
STEP 4
Create a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place marker circles that fits into the photo-holder. Then, cut them out.
STEP 5
Once the ornament is dry, insert the place marker circles into the medal and replace the backing.
STEP 6
Replace the ornament holder with ribbon to make the medal complete and ready to wear!
